From 21st June to 5th August 2012, the internationally unique project was presented in St Petersburg’s Alexandrovsky sad.

Opening event on 22nd June 2012
With the launch of the Year of Germany in Russia 2012/2013, the German Ambassador in Moscow, Ulrich Brandenburg, opens the exhibition together with the Head of the Committee on Culture of St Petersburg, Dmitry Meskhiev, the project initiators, Klaus and Eva Herlitz and representatives of the City of St Petersburg on 22th June 2012. St Petersburg’s Admiralty provides the magnificent historic backdrop for the exhibition. Journalists as well as residents and guests of St Petersburg are invited to take part in the festive exhibition opening.
Unveiling of the new United Buddy Bear for Russia
During the exhibition opening, the new bear for Russia was unveiled. The artist Marina Muzalevski designed the bear with memories from her childhood in St. Petersburg. Images of nature and the typical Russian wooden dolls are inserted into the style of chochloma - traditional Russian lacquer painting, of which your great-grandfather was one of the founders.
