United Buddy Bears on Berlin's square Walter-Benjamin-Platz

During the upcoming Christmas season, the United Buddy Bears exhibition will be a highlight for Berliners and their guests from all over the world.

The exhibition will be shown from 1st December 2017 until 7th January 2018 for the first time in six years in the bear's hometown of Berlin. The project has been on world tour for the last fifteen years and more than 40.000 visitors have been able to see the 2m tall bears on five continents. On the festively lit square Walter-Benjamin-Platz, close the Kurfürstendamm, 141 Buddy Bears will once again promote tolerance and living together in peace. Admission is free.

Patroness of this exhibition is Marianne Freifrau von Weizsäcker.

The official opening was carried out by Sawsan Chebli, state secretary for civic engagement and international affairs, together with representatives of all big world religions. Representatives of the religious faiths were: Pfarrer Martin Germer (Christianity), rabbi Yehuda Teichtal (Judaism), Mrs. Pinar Cetin (Islam), Mrs. Ranjit Kaur (Sikh), Mr. Vinay Lugani (Hindu) and Dr. Wilfried Reuter (Buddhism) as well as Marcel Marin and Sönmez Bektash (Bahai).

On Sunday, 3rd and 10th december, there will be a public Christmas carol singing in English and German at 5 pm. Hot drinks and snacks are available at the square.
