A Bear from Berlin Down Under

Just before Christmas, a Buddy Bear has been unveiled in the General Consulate in Sydney. The artist Kim Spooner had painted the 2m tall bear with typical motives for Australia like the koala, a kangaroo, a kookaburra, and a cockatoo. She said, that the Buddy Bear is a symbol for the German capital Berlin and the koala bear represents Australia. Through this connection the attachment of the two countries and the friendship between the nations is expressed.

The bear was moved securely from the artist’s studio to the consulate with the help of the fire brigade.
