The bear shows scenic elements of this Asian state – with access to major sea routes, and further inland, dominated by mountain ranges covered with jungle. With its wealth of mineral resources and raw materials as well as a rapid industrial development, Malaysia is an up-and-coming country. Together with the Malays, many ethnic groups, including Chinese, Indians, indigenous peoples, shape the population and cultural diversity. The largest, most significant city is Kuala Lumpur. George Town, capital of Penang Island and the State of Penang, has been on the UNESCO World Heritage List since 2008.
