Please read the Messages of greeting for the exibition of the United Buddy Bears in Cairo.

The Opening

The First Lady, H. E. Suzanne Mubarak - patron of the "United Buddy Bears" in Cairo together with Hans-Dietrich Genscher (former German Foreign Minister) and the Governor of Cairo, H.E. Dr. Abdel Azim Wazir, opened the exhibition on the evening of 11th April during a festive ceremony. Hundreds of guests, among them many ministers and government officials as well as delegates from a large number of embassies took part in the event. The opening ceremony, the ensuing speech by the Governor of Cairo and the performance of the children's choir of the Cairo Opera House were broadcast live on Egyptian television.

Until 19th May 2007, the "United Buddy Bears" were presented in the heart of the metropolis with its 16 million inhabitants on the Gezira Promenade (Zamalek Island) on the banks of the River Nile. During that time, many artistic performances from various different nations will take place on a large stage on the exhibition site.
