With the depiction of the Ancient Mayan Calendar in its torso, the bear becomes a link between past and present, stressing the unending need for peace as a condition for the well-being of all People. The Bear, "dressed-up" in the style of a Copan Mayan Stella, embodies the communion between the Ancient Maya in Honduras and today's cosmopolitan Berlin, symbol of international solidarity and unity.
The legend on the bears sides deals with the peace that ethnic groups need for their development.
