Interpretation

The bear is part of dreams and stories for most children in this world. That is the reason for the dreamlike and story-telling images I have used on the Buddy Bear. The images are taken from the history and the folk-tales of my country to represent the imagination of Iraqi children who escape into their dreams to avoid the cruel reality of their present life. The bear tells stories from Sumer, Assyria, Babylon, 1001 night and the two rivers of Mesopotamia, the Tigris and the Euphrates.

"If you still can dream there is love in your heart."
