Interpretation

There is no better motif to symbolise Russia than the Matryoshka. The elements of traditional folk painting are also used to decorate lacquered wooden crockery from the two most renowned areas of production in Russia - Palech and Chochloma. Ornaments and flowers were painted using two different techniques.
