Interpretation

The historical terrace buildings of the ancient city of Sana are on the front of the Yemen bear. The capital lies in the highlands of Yemen, around 2,300 m high, and is surrounded by several 3,000 m high peaks.

Sana is the best preserved ancient city in the Arabic region and has been part of the UNESCO Cultural World Heritage since 1978.

Further representing Yemenese culture is the typical scimitar (Djambia). The design of the bear focusses on the country's cultural heritage and traditon.
