Travels to Syria, Lebanon, Turkey (travel sketches) and Crete (Dionysian excesses on large canvases)

1997 after 10 years returns to wood, starts works with chain-saw

2001 sculptor of the original Buddy Bear-sculpture

Interpretation

The whole world is looking at my bear. The manyfold looks are reflected by his fur:

brown eyes

blue eyes

black eyes

green eyes

grey eyes

etc. eyes

Thus he offers his lumbering and well-humoured body as a meeting point for the diverse eyes of people and nations. And no one feels disturbed by anybody else.
