Horizons

This Buddy Bear was designed in a workshop at Roppongi Hills in Tokyo under the guidance of Katsuhiko Hibino in the context of the “Year of Germany in Japan 2005/2006“.

The entire body of the bear is covered with various colourful stripes symbolising the horizon. The artist and the workshop participants used one colour each to represent this symbol.

On the one hand horizons stand for Japan as an island state with a history full of changes. On the other hand, they also represent each individual person’s horizon.

This joint work of art reflects the significance of the “United Buddy Bears“ exhibition and promotes the message of global peace and unity.
