Interpretation

In the Ukrainian bear the traditions of popular decorative mural paintings are combined with the present and past life of the Ukrainian people.

The composition has the character of a funny fable and offers insights into the characteristic Ukrainian cultural traditions of village life. The artistic idea follows the long tradition of Ukrainian folk art which has developed independently of academic art and which had been used for national identification throughout the course of history.
