Big donation success for little patients

The United Buddy Bears exhibition in Latvia's capital Riga ended on 22 August 2018 after six weeks. More than 140 Buddy Bears had promoted tolerance and peaceful coexistence on the Dome Square, attracting thousands of visitors from Latvia and abroad. As so often, the exhibition was once again connected with a charitable purpose: Donations were collected for the children's hospital in Riga to enable small patients who do not receive state support to undergo treatment. Through donations from visitors, the sale of Buddy Bear souvenirs and the support of several embassies, proceeds of almost 10,000 euros were raised.

The German Ambassador, Rolf Schütte, who had organized the exhibition together with his team and the city of Riga, handed over a cheque for 9,800 euros to Liene Dambina from the Children's Hospital Foundation on 5 September, International Charity Day.
