The BUDDY BEARS turn BLUE with UNICEF

In a joint campaign with UNICEF for World Children's Day on november, 20, 2021, the 14-meter-high Buddy Bear on Rathenauplatz in Berlin was lit up all in blue. The initiator, the international initiative #TurnTheWorldBlue - Show your colors for children's rights, aims to create more visibility for children's rights and concerns worldwide. Especially in times of pandemics, it is important to protect and strengthen children.

Why blue?

The color blue is a symbol for the United Nations and at the same time for the universally valid children's rights everywhere in the world. Many famous buildings and monuments such as the Sydney Opera House, the Pyramids of Giza, the Empire State Building in New York have participated in this action in recent years and were illuminated in blue.

Buddy Bear Berlin and UNICEF have been working on joint projects for 20 years and were happy to be part of it again. Many people visited the bear and sent wonderful and inspiring messages on social networks.

The giant glowing Buddy Bear shines in changing colors throughout the pre-Christmas season at Rathenauplatz in Berlin.
