Ceremonial tribute to Eva Herlitz and her lifetime achievement

During the gala "Wings for the Future", which Osnabrück Zoo organized together with the foundation "A Future for Children" on November 13, 2021, Eva Herlitz, the initiator of the Buddy Bears who passed away in spring, was honored and awarded for her life's work.

Eva Herlitz fought tirelessly for children in need and created a real landmark for Berlin with the Buddy Bears. The cheerful works of art have a deeper meaning, because they stand for tolerance and peaceful coexistence.

Many invited guests from politics, culture and charity paused to honor Eva Herlitz. Christian Wulff, Zohre Esmaeli, Boris Pistorius and many other participants knew Eva Herlitz personally. In keeping with her spirit, four unique Buddy Bear artworks were auctioned off at this event. These works of art were designed by the renowned Swiss artist Sabeth Holland. They generated a donation amount of 6,700 euros, which will benefit children in need.

A big thank you goes to Mrs. Heike Busemann from the Osnabrück Zoo, who organized this event for the third time to honor all those who do extraordinary things for the society.
