Buddy Bear for State Office for Refugee Affairs

Thanks to the State Office for Refugee Affairs and the "KinderKulturMonat" project of the WerkStadt Kulturverein Berlin e.V., the children from the Murtzaner Ring shared accommodation in Berlin-Marzahn were able to paint a colourful Buddy Bear sculpture in collaboration with Buddy Bär Berlin with lots of fun and joy.

Based on the ideas of artists Rike Nikel and Helena Hernandez, the bear was brightly coloured in the style of the Mexican Alebrije figures. It is said that the Alebrijes figures magically attract happiness when they are handmade and placed in your home and the Buddy Bears embody peaceful coexistence, tolerance, diversity and freedom, without which happiness is probably not easy to feel.
