On October 8, 2021, the Bürgerstiftung Berlin presented the "Buddies for Peace" award for peacable education for the second time. The honoring of the student projects took place at the Tierpark Berlin, where the United Buddy Bears exhibition will be on display until next summer.

The award honors initiatives that are largely carried out by Berlin children and that support peaceful and non-violent coexistence. The first prize, a two-meter Buddy Bear – donated by Buddy Bär Berlin – goes to the project of peer mediators at the Reinickendorfer Grundschule in den Rollbergen.
The concept had convinced the jury because it improves the school's everyday culture in the area of social learning and personality development. The bear sculpture will be created in the award-winning school under the guidance of an artist or art educator.

Two 1m Buddy Bears were awarded to the Robert Blum Gymnasium and the 5th grade of the Grundschule an der Bäke for their Fairplayer.Manual.

The prizes were presented by actress Petra Zieser and the director of the zoo, Dr. Andreas Knieriem.
