Slovenia's former Buddy Bear from the United Buddy Bear exhibition, designed by artist Marjan Ogradni Kekec, has found a new home at an auction in Ljubljana. The proceeds were also used to support a charitable organisation.
After the auction, it was ceremoniously handed over to the Striplab company. The ceremony took place in the presence of the new ambassador, Mrs Sylvia Groneick, and the Deputy Mayor of Ljubljana, Mr Rok Žnidaršič, at Ljubljana City Hall. Representatives of the aid organisation Zavod prijateljev mladine Moste Polje, which received the proceeds of the auction as well as a donation from Buddy Bear Help, were also present.
In a special gesture, the Striplab company donated the bear back to the municipality of Ljubljana with the request that it be displayed in a public place in Ljubljana.
