We bid farewell to Andrej Bitter

It is with great sadness that we say goodbye to Andrej Bitter (1952–2025) – an extraordinary artist, mentor and long-time companion of Buddy Bear Berlin.

Born in St. Petersburg, the artist studied fine art and design at the local art academy and worked together with his wife Marina Bitter on numerous murals, exhibitions and design projects. He lived in Berlin since 1996 and was active as an artist, designer and teacher.

As one of the first Buddy Bear artists, Andrej Bitter accompanied our project from the very beginning. As head of the Buddy Bear studio, he shaped many of our projects with his creativity, his sense of colour and form, and his human warmth, and contributed significantly to the success of the United Buddy Bears.

With Andrej Bitter's passing, we have lost not only a great artist, but also a friend whose humour, heart and passion will always remain in our memories.

Our thoughts are with his family.
