The Rocks offers more than just the bear essentials as Buddies unite in Sydney

Bear your heart in support of children in need and purchase your own mini Buddy Bear at the Sydney Visitor Centre in The Rocks.

The Rocks Sydney Visitor Centre, managed by the Sydney Harbour Foreshore Authority, is encouraging Sydneysiders to support UNICEF’s United Buddy Bear Exhibition at Circular Quay from 8 March to 5 April.

A fantastic range of Buddy Bear merchandise, including the official mini Buddy Bears, will be on sale at the SVC, with proceeds going to UNICEF. ||The Sydney Visitor Centre will also be home to a two metre bear that will be decorated by the public. Everyone is welcome to come along and make a donation to be a part of the fun.

UNICEF Australia Chief Executive Carolyn Hardy said she is grateful for Sydney Harbour Foreshore Authority’s support in displaying information on UNICEF’s global HIV/AIDS campaign at the Sydney Visitor Centre during the six-week exhibition.

“The Sydney Harbour Foreshore Authority’s support will help UNICEF to inform people about the generation of children at risk of AIDS,” Ms Hardy said. “Buddy Bears promotes understanding between nations, and we hope to increase people’s understanding of the effect of AIDS on children throughout the world.”

Renowned Australian artist, Ken Done, who is based in The Rocks, has been selected to paint the Australian Buddy Bear in his iconic style, with symbols and imagery representative of Australia.

The Löwenbräu Keller in The Rocks is also supporting Buddy Bears. It is the first company in Sydney to purchase a Bear to display on their premises.
