Join us in welcoming the bears to Sydney in 2006
More than 120 Buddy Bears will stand paw-in-paw at Circular Quay's Overseas Passenger Terminal from 8th March till 5th April. Standing 2m tall the colourful bears are a spectacular sight, appealing to adults and children alike! The message they 'bear' is one of friendship between nations and across cultures. On a non-stop tour of the world, the bears have already drawn huge crowds in Berlin, Kitzbühel, Hong Kong, Istanbul, Tokyo and Seoul - and raised in excess of AUD 1.5 million for UNICEF and local children's charities.
Entry into the exhibition is free! Proceeds from event activities, such as the auctioning of special Buddy Bears, will be donated to UNICEF Australia. For more information on bidding for your own Buddy Bear, please go to www.united-buddy-bears-sydney.com/charity.
Schools can get involved with an excursion to visit the Bears or by entering the Ken Done Paint-A-Bear Competition. The Buddy Bear exhibition provides a wonderful learning opportunity for children and the chance to win some fantastic prizes for students and their schools!

“The message of peace, tolerance and international understanding is |an important one – today, more than ever,” said The Hon. Sandra Nori, NSW
Minster for Tourism, Sport and Recreation and Minister for Women. “These colourful |and facinating bears help onlookers to understand a little bit more about each of the countries they represent and carry with them the spirit of friendship. Sydney is proud and privileged to be hosting the United Buddy Bears exhibition and to be part of this international project.”
“I urge Australians to visit the United Buddy Bear exhibition and to take |the opportunity to immerse themselves in this diverse range of cultural art while at the same time demonstrating their support for fostering solidarity and peace in the world,” said Minster Nori.
“People are thrilled by these vibrant bears - each one telling its own story |through art. We are very proud of all that the exhibition has achieved as it has toured the globe and trust the Australian people will fall in love with the bears just as people in Germany and all over the world have” said Buddy Bear co-founder Dr Klaus Herlitz.
