Artistic Buddy Bears show unveiled in HK

The United Buddy Bears Exhibition was launched on Saturday in Hong Kong for the first time.

At the Central Lawn of Hong Kong Victoria Park, 120 Buddy Bears, hand and hand and shoulder to shoulder, painted by artists from all over the world, formed a huge circle delivering the message of love, peace and solidarity.

The idea of Buddy Bears came from a Germany couple, Dr Klaus Herlitz and his wife Eva, who wanted to create a symbol to represent understanding and tolerance among nations.

The idea of bringing the Buddy Bears to Hong Kong was initiated by international superstar Jackie Chan. He hoped the message of global peace and tolerance carried by the Buddy Bears could also be promoted in Hong Kong.

The United Buddy Bears Exhibition is organized by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department, the Home Affairs Department and the Jackie Chan Charitable Foundation etc. The exhibition will also help raise funds for the Hong Kong Committee for the United Nations Children's Fund, the Community Chest of Hong Kong and the Jackie Chan Charitable Foundation.
