New EU-funded Social Impact project ART & CULTURE
Buddy Bear ART & CULTURE combines art, language and everyday support to help people with a history of migration to integrate into our society.
The ART & CULTURE team works in an interdisciplinary and intercultural way. ART & CULTURE combines two workshops for third-country nationals seeking protection in Berlin. The aim is to help participants build a new life here and integrate into the host society. With creative and interactive formats, the workshops promote integration, strengthen social cohesion and make the city's diversity visible.
United we grow, together we belong.
The core components of the project
- Art Workshops
Participants can gain stability and strength through creative work in art workshops. They learn to express their feelings and come into contact with various materials and creative techniques. They are accompanied by a permanent team of art teachers and volunteers. At the end of the process, a Buddy Bear sculpture is painted and presented to the public in an exhibition in Berlin. Visitors to the exhibition will have the opportunity to find out more about the artists and their (migration) biographies via QR codes. The visibility of the participants and their sculptures and the sensitization of the host society to the topics of migration and flight are the main objectives of the exhibition.
- Social Orientation
ART & CULTURE offers social and cultural orientation, everyday help and translations through culture coaching. Practical workshops impart knowledge about democracy, work culture, family models, media freedom and volunteering. In conversation training sessions, participants are motivated to feel more confident in the German language and thus be able to move independently and actively in their new environment.
- Target groups
Buddy Bear Berlin's ART & CULTURE project is primarily targeted at third-country nationals who are particularly or traumatically affected and who reside regularly and permanently in Germany, or are in the process of obtaining legal and permanent residence. Volunteers who wish to actively participat in the dialog and benefit from the encounters are also invited to accompany the participants in the workshops.
- Funding
The offer is financed by the European Union and is free of charge for the participants. Although the project is based in Tempelhof-Schöneberg, people from all over Berlin can take part.
- Project Duration
ART & CULTURE is scheduled to run for three years and is divided into 6 runs of six months.
