In the context of the year of Germany in India, the international "United Buddy Bears" art project will be presented inside Connaught Place. Following the motto "WE HAVE TO GET TO KNOW EACH OTHER BETTER …, …it makes us understand one another better, trust each other more, and live together more peacefully.", the 2m tall Buddy Bears promote tolerance and mutual understanding among different nations, cultures and religion.
The Buddy Bear is unique in its shape, and above all, in its symbolism. After its initial presentation in Berlin, the sculpture has become the city's unofficial symbol. 143 Buddy Bears, representing the number of United Nations recognized countries, stand together, "hand in hand", symbolising the future-oriented vision of a peaceful world. Several welcome messages have referred to the Buddy Bears as "the best ambassadors for Berlin and a cosmopolitan Germany".
Since 2002, the "United Buddy Bears" have visited 23 metropolises including Hong Kong, Tokyo, Istanbul, Sydney, Cairo, Jerusalem, Buenos Aires and Kuala Lumpur.

The Buddy Bears stand together hand in hand in a peaceful circle, promoting tolerance and understanding among different nations, cultures and religions.
Art and Culture
Each Buddy Bear has been designed by an artist on behalf of his or her native country. The international artists’ different styles are joined together in one work of art, spreading zest for life. The diverse design of the Buddy Bears – always typical for the respective countries – enables the visitors to experience a journey around the globe.
Aid for children
The non-commercial project and help for children in need form an inseparable unit. So far, more than € 1.8 million have been transferred to UNICEF and local children's aid organisations.
