Interpretation

We are pleased to announce the arrival of the famous Buddy Bear in Mumbai. Painted by Mumbai-based artist Sameer Kulavoor, the Buddy Bear stands tall in the lobby of the Hoechst House and will greet future visitors of the German Consulate.

An art enthusiast himself, Consul General, Dr. Morhard is delighted with the way Mumbai’s Buddy Bear has turned out: “True to the task of Buddy Bears worldwide, we wanted Mumbai’s Buddy Bear to give testimony to the comprehensive and close relationship between India and Germany, and that has been achieved.”

The Buddy Bear artwork reflects the shared ideals of multiplicity between India and Germany. Artist Sameer Kulavoor says, “Mumbai’s Buddy Bear emanates a warm and positive energy. You will find relevant Indo-German cultural, economic and socio-political references scattered all over the bear.”

The Buddy Bear is the global ambassador of Berlin, a symbol of peace, friendship and unity between nations.
