United Buddy Bears in Stuttgart
From July 9 until August 12, 2008 Stuttgart was hosting the United Buddy Bears exhibition. On the Schlossplatz in the heart of the city, the Buddy Bears - designed by 140 artists from all over the world - welcomed their visitors "hand in hand".
Klaus Lindemann, the managing director of the Stuttgart Marketing GmbH, summarised that “the exhibition was an extraordinary success". More than half a million visitors came to see the bears designed by artists from all over the world and the media response was equally fantastic.

The Honorary Consul of Bhutan, Dr Wolfgang Pfeiffer, originally had the idea to present the exhibition in the capital of the German Land Baden-Württemberg. It is also due to Dr Pfeiffer"s committed approach that the artist Karma Yéshé, who was born in Mongar (Bhutan) and now lives and teaches at the "Temple of 1000 Buddhas" in La Boulaye (France) came to Berlin in the spring of 2006 to create a Buddy Bear for his country, the Kingdom of Bhutan.
