UNITED BUDDY BEARS - THE MINIS IN WASSERBURG, LAKE CONSTANCE
Around 100 United Buddy Bears – The Minis (height: 1m each) are visiting Wasserburg at Lake Constance between 23rd August and 13th September 2009.
The exhibition was part of the celebrations of this year’s 1225th anniversary of Wasserburg, which took place under the motto “Together we are as strong as bears“.
The municipality spent a long time looking for a suitably great project to celebrate the year of its anniversary. Klaus Gierer, who lives in Wasserburg, returned from a trip to Hong Kong with the decisive idea. He saw a Buddy Bear in the Chinese metropolis and came across the project of the United Buddy Bears – The Minis during his search for the origins of this Buddy Bear.
Over the following months, the initiators Klaus Gierer and Andreas Zürn jointly worked towards showing around 100 miniature Buddy Bears in Wasserburg – and their initiative was successful!
For three weeks, the exhibition was presented on the Wasserburg peninsula during the summer of 2009, with the beautiful Lace Constance as its backdrop. During this time, the little bears took the hearts of their visitors by storm.
Sponsors were largely responsible for making this exhibition happen. Many Minis had temporary “parents”, whose donations enabled their favourite Buddy Bear to travel to Wasserburg. Additionally, many companies and volunteers provided all-embracing support for the exhibition with their unfailing commitment.
