Europe Day in Paris
The celebrations for this year’s Europe Day took place in a large European village on the city hall square in Paris from 8th to 9th May 2012.
Together with a miniature version of the Brandenburg Gate, culinary delights “à la Berlin” and two Buddy Bears (donated by Dr. Hans-Jörg Leuchte) rounded up Berlin’s presence at the event.
Supported by the Centre Français de Berlin (CFB) and the City Administration of Berlin, schoolchildren from Berlin and Paris designed the bears, symbolising the 25th anniversary of the twinning partnership between Berlin and Paris.
Pupils from the Judith-Kerr-Schule designed the Berlin Buddy Bear (see photo) under the artistic guidance of Bruno Di Martino. In Paris, schoolchildren attending the partner school in the 10th arrondissement painted the 2m tall unique sculpture.
