Buddy Bear at the Expo 2010 in Shanghai

In the German Pavilion ’balancity – a city in balance’, the German capital Berlin is represented by a large Buddy Bear – with the Brandenburg Gate as its backdrop. The bear was commissioned for the Expo 2010 by the Berlin Partner GmbH and designed by the Fuenfwerken Design AG.

Berlin’s invitation to its visitors – ’the place to be.’ is taken very literally here. The place right next to the Buddy Bear, in the middle of Pariser Platz provides by far the most popular motif for souvenir photos shot in the German Pavilion.
