United Buddy Bears
The colourful ‘United Buddy Bears’ initiative was an artistic event that first took place in Berlin in 2002. Dozens of international artists were invited to paint their own life sized bear in a way that would be representative of their country, traditions or cultural beliefs. The exhibition was a huge success and the bears hit the road travelling far and wide, even reaching Pyonyang in North Korea. Now as part of the year of Germany in Russia they are delighting visitors to St. Petersburg with their message of peace and international friendship.
