Buddy Bears greet students of international programs at FU Berlin
The international team of Berlin’s „Freie Universität“ has increased in size – distinctly.
Since April, two Buddy Bears of 2m height are greeting the students of the campus in Lankwitz on Malteser Straße. The design refers to the two international programs of the FU, the „Freie Universität Berlin European Studies Program“ (FU-BEST) as well as the „Freie Universität Berlin International Summer and Winter University“ (FUBiS).
The artist Andrej Wolff has positioned the seal of the university with its motto “Veritas, Iustitia, Libertas” (truth, justice, liberty) on the left raised arm of both bears. The FU-BEST-Bear wears the yellow stars of Europe above the Berlin skyline on its blue body together with the German colours. The FUBiS-Buddy-Bear is balancing a big globe on its paw; the flags represent the more than 50 nations that participate regularly in the FUBiS. Thus, the two Buddy Bears bid all the students from Europe and the world a hearty welcome in Berlin.
