United Buddy Bears
The circle of 120 "United Buddy Bears" will be in Istanbul between December 5, 2004 and January 5, 2005. The exhibition is at Tepebaþý Pera Square in Beyoðlu. Istanbul is the fourth stage of the global tour after Berlin, Kitzbuehel and Hong Kong.
120 two-meter tall bears were created by 120 different artists inspired from Berlin's symbol "Bear". The artists show the art style of their home countries and each bear reflects the culture and traditions of the artist's country. Standing in a circle the bears form a unique work of art altogether. Love, peace, friendship, tolerance and international understanding are promoted.
The Buddy Bears will be on display for 45 days and will be sold by charitable auction for UNICEF. Furthermore the income from the sale of various souvenirs and contributions will also be donated to UNICEF and other national organizations helping needy children all over the world.
Over 1.000.000 Euro has been collected from United Buddy Bears activities. The project which was born in Berlin will be on display at the square between TRT Studios at Tepebaþý and Pera Palas Hotel and the covered area beneath.
