Delhi gets Berlin bear
A German friendship symbol
German Ambassador Thomas Matussek Tuesday unveiled a two-metre Buddy Bear sculpture in front of the embassy here as part of the over-year long celebrations to mark 60 years of diplomatic relations with India. Named as the Delhi Buddy Bear, the sculpture "is a symbol of cultural exchange and will welcome all visitors to the embassy", Matussek told reporters after the unveiling ceremony.
This also marks the beginning of the Year of Germany in India - a 15-month long series of programmes - under the motto "Infinite Opportunities - Germany and India 2011-2012".
